INTENSIVE OUTPATIENT

Many patients who participate in the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at PHPIN have been diagnosed and substance use disorder, through individuals who struggle with other mental health conditions may be assisted by the IOP level of care as well. As is the case with all forms of treatment at PHPIN admission into IOP is made on a person-by-person basis following through assessment of the prospective patient’s strengths, needs treatment history, and recovery goals.

Group therapy: Groups are the fundamental mode of treatment in IOP at PHPIN group therapy allows participants to share their concerns and insights, learn from the opinions and experiences of others, and practice healthy and productive interpersonal communication skills. Under the direction of an experienced professional, IOP Group sessions at PHPIN are reflective psychotherapy experiences that are designed to assist patients with a greater understanding of their connection with and response to the addiction that they have been experiencing.

Medication Management: Many people who participate in IOP at PHPIN benefit from the prescription of certain medications that alleviate or assist in the management of symptoms related to their substance use disorders.

Though we are able to offer medication management to all IOP participants, we also encourage patients to have community-based medication providers to ensure that they experience no disruption in care either during or after their time in treatment with us.

Discharge Planning: Preparation for an individual’s life after PHPIN being the day that he or she begins treatment. INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

What is Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy (sometimes called “psychotherapy” or “counseling”) is a process through which clients work one-on-one with a trained therapist-in a safe, caring, and confidential environment-to explore their feelings, beliefs, or behaviors, work through challenging or influential memories, identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change, better understand themselves and others, set personal goals, and work towards desired change.

People seek therapy for a wide variety of reasons, from coping with major life challenges or childhood trauma, to dealing with depression or anxiety, to simply desiring personal growth and greater self-knowledge. A client and therapist may work together for as few as five or six sessions or as long as several years, depending on the client’s unique needs and personal goals for therapy.
